The confusion to figure out India in 7 minutes is evident. The commentary takes the easy way out - Slums on one end, IT majors on the other and none in between. The reality is that there are various shades of gray that aren’t addressed. Throw in a world renowned professor (CK Prahalad) and the message is clear: “America - be afraid!”. How sad.
People - grow up. The country which is the MOST like the US right now in multiple respects is India. Multi-culturalism, democracy, love for consumerism, and pardoxically for spiritualism, modernism and tolerance are all shared attributes of both nations. Like it or not, India is becoming an extension of the USA, the 51st state.
There is no need to attribute fear on folks from India taking over your jobs more than the guys from Denver. The jobs that are going over there are ones you hate to do in the first place, given the choice. The opportunity is to do what you always wanted to do with your career, and let India do the same. Dont be led by extreme points of view to believe anything different.
It’s the right thing to do.
